Kick-off Meeting of the 10th World Water Forum 2024 was success

Jakarta, Indonesia, ABIM (18/2/2023)  –  The Government of Indonesia is considered to have successfully organized a Kick-off Meeting on 15-16 February 2023 as the first meeting for international stakeholders in the management of Water Resources as the host of the 10th World Water Forum in Bali in 2024.

This was conveyed by the President of the World Water Council (WWC) Loïc Fauchon during the WWC 82th Board of Governors Meeting in Bali on Friday and Saturday, February 17-18. President Fauchon repeated his statement at the closing of the 10th World Water Forum Kick-off Meeting with Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan and Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono in Jakarta, Thursday February 16.

Loïc said, through the 10th World Water Forum, Indonesia can demonstrate to the world its capacity to lead in facing the challenges of water management in the world. According to him, this is indicated by leaders in Indonesia who have demonstrated their desire to place water and the environment as the main agenda.

“Indonesia is a developed country. The international community has much to learn from Indonesia’s experience and expertise in responding to water management challenges. Indonesia will become the capital of international waters for the next 15 months until May 2024. The Kick-Off Meeting is a milestone in strengthening commitment to water management. Stop ignoring water, stop ignoring water,” President Fauchon said.
The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said, through the Kick-Off Meeting on 15-16 February the process of identifying important issues to be discussed at the 10th WWF in 2024 had been carried out.
Since the Kick-Off Meeting was held, thematic, regional and political processes have been underway to discuss and find realistic, innovative solutions, along with action plans and
implementation in the near future.

“This forum can be considered as one of the most important milestones towards 2030 and beyond, which aims to achieve water security for all. With the theme “Water for Shared Prosperity” and contributed significantly to its realization Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” said Coordinating Minister Luhut who is also Chair of the National Committee for the 10th World Water Forum in 2024.
Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono said, after the Kick-off Meeting, a second meeting of stakeholders on sustainable water management will be held which is planned to be held in September 2023 in Bali.
“This Kick-off Meeting is the first international stakeholder meeting, the second will be in September 2023 and the peak will be in May 2024, the 10th World Water Forum in 2024 in Bali,” Minister Basuki said.(ABIM)
