Jakarta, Indonesia, ABIM (20/2/2023) – Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono encourages active participation and contribution from Engineering graduates, particularly Gadjah Mada University (UGM) to sustain engineering innovation. Minister Basuki was accompanied by Jarot Widyoko, Director General of Water Resources, Ministry of PUPR, Khalawi AH, and Danang Parikesit, Head of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency, Ministry of PUPR.
It was delivered by Minister Basuki who was accompanied by Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi at the Grand Reunion of the Alumni Families of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Gadjah Mada University (KATSGAMA) in Jakarta, Saturday.
“We are awarded to be KATSGAMA alumni. We must be proud, but we must increase our contribution as well. For that, UGM Engineering alumni must have strong competence, be brave with integrity, and have an artistic spirit by continuing to improvise and innovate in engineering,” Minister Basuki said.
According to Minister Basuki, innovation can be achieved with determination by never stopping research, so that the emerging technology is useful to society.
“For example, I have dedicated 45 years of my life to working at the PUPR Ministry. The point is to stay focused because the outcome will be magnificent “Minister Basuki stated.
During the event, Minister Basuki also handed over certificates of appreciation to UGM Engineering alumni who were considered to have contributed to infrastructure development in Indonesia, including to General Chairman of the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII) Heru Dewanto, Director General of Water Resources Ministry of PUPR Jarot Widyoko, Head of Development Agency HR of the Ministry of PUPR Khalawi AH, and Head of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency for the Ministry of PUPR Danang Parikesit.
Minister Basuki has said on several occasions that the PUPR Ministry actively supports the development of collaboration with universities. This is to support the development of Human Resources (HR), since one of the critical components in the development of high-quality, smart, and environmentally friendly infrastructure is the availability of skilled, competent, superior, and dynamic human resources.
“The Ministry of PUPR has formally collaborated with a number of universities on projects such as the development of super specialist masters and professional organizations. At every chance, I also direct scientific activities held on campus to invite the younger generation and students to learn about professional organizations and infrastructure development in Indonesia” Minister Basuki stated.(ABIM)
