Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia, ABIM (27/2/2023) – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) accompanied by Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of ATR/BPN Hadi Tjahjanto, Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo, Member of Commission V DPR RI Sudewo and Regent of Demak Eisti’anah inaugurated Semarang-Demak Toll Road Section 2 of the Sayung-Demak section in Semarang, Central Java, Saturday February 25.
“The Semarang-Demak Toll Road Section 2 of the Sayung-Demak section has been finished and is ready to operate for a length of 16.01 km at a cost of IDR 5.9 trillion,” President Jokowi said.
President Jokowi appreciated the newly-inaugurated Sayung-Demak toll road. This second section of Semarang-Demak toll road not only as an alternative solution to relief traffic congestion on the Pantura route, but also serve as a sea wall.
The President went on to say that he predicted tidal flood will reach farther and higher areas due to climate change. Therefore, the sea wall structure built on the Sayung-Demak toll road can prevent the flood.
President Jokowi remind governors, regents, and mayors to immediately connect all completed toll road projects throughout the country with production areas in their respective regions. he firmly said adding that the connectivity between industrial areas, agricultural and plantation areas, and tourist areas will boost efficiency and competitiveness of Indonesian products.
“Thus, the toll road will bring concrete benefits to speed up transports of logistics including agricultural and plantation products which will eventually boost efficiency and competitiveness,” President Jokowi said.
The Semarang-Demak Toll Road has a total length of 26.40 km which was built in 2 sections through the Business Entity Cooperation with the Government (PPP) scheme. Section 2 of the 16.01 km Sayung – Demak section is the investment portion of the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT) carried out by the PT PP-PT WIKA Consortium and the Maratama-Technical Study Planning Consultant (KSO) with the Supervision Consultant PT. Virama Karya (Persero).
As for Section 1 for the 10.39 km Semarang/Kaligawe – Sayung toll road, it is part of the government’s construction support with a budget allocation of IDR 10 trillion sourced from the State Budget.
“Session 1 has been contracted all for about 10 km, now it is in the process of land acquisition,” Minister Basuki said.
Minister Basuki revealed that the President had decided that all land acquired would be treated like normal land. So the destroyed land approach which according to the rules is worth 25% of the Sales Value of Taxable Objects (NJOP) is no longer valid. Henceforth, the replaced land will still be paid according to the appraisal results from the Ministry of ATR/BPN.
“Appraisal will be completed within the next 2 weeks so that we can immediately start construction of Section 1. It is targeted that all of the Semarang-Demak Toll Road sections will be completed by the end of 2024,” Minister Basuki said.
