Ministry of PUPR Committed to Complete National Tourism Destination Master Plan Documents

Jakarta, Indonesia, ABIM (13/4/2023) – The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) keep committed to support the development of the National Tourism Strategic Area (KSPN) in order to encourage an increase in domestic and international tourist visits. One of them was carried out by the Regional Infrastructure Development Agency (BPIW) of the Ministry of PUPR by completing the National Tourism Destination Master Plan (RIDPN)/Integrated Tourism Masterplan (ITMP) for the Lake Toba KSPN in North Sumatra, Borobudur-Yogyakarta-Prambanan in the Special Region of Yogyakarta/Central Java, Raja Ampat in West Papua, and Wakatobi in Southeast Sulawesi.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said the Lake Toba ITMP study had been completed in March 2020 and submitted to Bappenas in May 2020. During 2020-2023, the PUPR Ministry has provided infrastructure support for the Lake Toba KSPN worth IDR 2.38 trillion.
“It is hoped that the RIDPN draft can be discussed at the Ministerial Meeting this April. Currently it is at the stage of requesting input for the final draft of the Draft Presidential Regulation of the Lake Toba RIDPN,” Minister Basuki said in a Ministerial Meeting regarding the Finalization of RIDPN/ITMP at the Office of the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas in Jakarta, Monday (10/4/2023).

Furthermore, for the preparation of the Borobudur-Yogyakarta-Prambanan RIDPN, it is already at the stage of requesting input for the final draft of the Draft Presidential Regulation. The ITMP study was completed in December 2020 and submitted to the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas in February 2021. The value of PUPR infrastructure support for the Borobudur-Yogyakarta-Prambanan KSPN is Rp. 2.29 trillion during 2020-2023.

“For Borobudur, the issue is the existence of a Heritage Impact Assessment (HIA) document that has not been approved by UNESCO. So we ask the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology to process the document until it gets approval from UNESCO,” Minister Basuki added.

Then the KSPN Wakatobi for its ITMP review will be presented at the Ministerial Meeting this April. The PUPR Ministry has disbursed IDR 13.7 billion to support the development of Wakatobi since 2020. Finally, the ITMP study for the Raja Ampat KSPN was completed in December 2022 and submitted to the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas in February 2023.

The PUPR Ministry has allocated funds of around IDR 4.8 trillion from 2020-2023 to support the 4 KSPNs, so that the Regional Government’s commitment is required to receive infrastructure assets that have been built so they can be maintained immediately. Infrastructure support for the Ministry of PUPR is planned in an integrated manner starting from connectivity, supply of raw water and clean water, waste management, sanitation, to improving people’s housing, through an infrastructure development master plan that considers environmental, social and economic aspects.

This ITMP will become an integrated infrastructure planning document to optimally support integrated tourism development. Of the 10 Priority Tourism destinations, 6 KSPNs were assigned to the PUPR Ministry to be developed through the ITMP program, namely Lake Toba, Borobudur-Yogyakarta-Prambanan, Bromo-Tengger-Semeru, Lombok, Labuan Bajo and Wakatobi.
