The Ministry of PUPR functionalizes Sections 4-6 of the Cisumdawu Toll Road: Proven to Facilitate Homecoming Traffic

Jakarta, ABIM (23/4/2023) – The move by the PUPR Ministry to open the functional Cileunyi – Sumedang – Dawuan (Cisumdawu) Toll Road Section 4 – Section 6 (Cimalaka – Dawuan) with a length of 29.3 km in supporting the 2023 Eid homecoming traffic this time has proven effective. The condition of the Cisumdawu Toll Road which connects 2 toll roads, namely the Purbaleunyi Toll Road and the Cikoko-Palimanan (Cipali) Toll Road, is relatively smooth with sunny weather conditions.

Previously, in December 2022, section 1-3 of the Cisumdawu toll road from Cileunyi to Cimalaka with a length of 32.5 km was operational. Thus the Cisumdawu toll road has been fully connected for 62 km from the Cipularang toll road to the Cipali toll road.

“Structurally all Sections 4-6 of the Cisumdawu Toll Road have been completed. Today the focus is on tidying it up, including installing the signs,” Minister Basuki said while observing the Cisumdawu Toll Road on Saturday (4/15).

Minister Basuki said that there were three things that determined the smoothness of homecoming, namely the readiness of infrastructure, traffic management, and driver behavior.

“In terms of infrastructure, I convey that the Cisumdawu Toll Road is ready to be used functionally. From Cimalaka to Dawuan two lanes will be opened free of charge for the 2023 Eid homecoming,” Minister Basuki added.

The Cisumdawu Toll Road which will be opened functional in order to support the 2023 Eid homecoming traffic consists of Section 4 Cimalaka – Legok (8.2 Km), Section 5 Legok – Ujung Jaya (14.9 Km), and Section 6 Ujung Jaya – Dawuan including Junction Dawuan (6.1 Km).

Asep Sulaeman, the field supervision coordinator for the PJBH Cisumdawu Working Unit, Directorate General of Highways, Ministry of PUPR, who is standing by to monitor the circumstances of Eid homecoming on the Cisumdawu Toll Road, reported that the Cisumdawu Toll Road is in generally good condition with sunny weather.Sections 4-6 of the Cisumdawu Toll Road are functionalized by the Ministry of PUPR: Known to Streamline Homecoming Traffic.

“On Friday (4/21), at 08.30 WIB, monitoring of traffic flow in sections 1-3 was smooth, with sunny weather conditions. Then the functional route sections 4-6 which are open from 06.00 to 15.00 WIT with traffic conditions in sections 4-6 are also smooth,” Asep said.

In order to facilitate the homecoming traffic, the Ministry of PUPR and BUJT has also created a temporary rest place at KM 194+400 Section 4B. “Additionally, we offer a rest area for passengers at the KM 194+400 Sapta Taruna Standby Post. Toilets, prayer rooms, gas stations, and other amenities are also available at this post.” Asep explained.

After being utilized to support the smooth traffic of Lebaran 2023 homecoming, Minister Basuki targets all Cisumdawu toll roads to be completed and fully operational in early June 2023. “At the end of May or at the latest in early June 2023, all sections of the 62 km Cisumdawu Toll Road will be operational, as well as to support the operation of Kertajati Airport,” he said.
