Eid Homecoming 2023, Ministry of PUPR Provides 146 Clean Water and Sanitation Facilities at 46 Points throughout Indonesia

Jakarta, ABIM (27/4/2023) – The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) is also providing facilities and infrastructure (sarpras) to accommodate homecoming and return flows during Eid 2023, in addition to preparing road and bridge infrastructure. Sanitation and clean water services are offered in 46 locations around Indonesia.

“Clean water and sanitation support in the homecoming route post area is one form of support to provide smooth passage for drivers passing through,” the Director General of Human Settlements of the PUPR Ministry, Diana Kusumastuti said.

The Ministry of PUPR began providing venues and infrastructure for the 2023 Lebaran homecoming on April 17, 2023, spreading 22 provinces. The positions are in Sapta Taruna posts located in toll and non-toll road rest areas, ports, terminals, airports, tourist areas, and potential high-traffic zones.
Toilets that have adequate sanitation facilities and infrastructure are needed by the traveler, considering the limited toilets at gas stations and rest areas are not sufficient to facilitate all travelers.
according to data from the Directorate General of Human Settlements, a toilet bus, 39 cabin toilet trucks, 27 portable toilets, 37 fire hydrants, 34 water tank trucks, and 26 fecal suction trucks are among the infrastructure and facilities offered for homecoming. The PUPR Ministry has also deployed 175 staffs on duty 24 hours a day in shifts at various service points to enhance infrastructure services.

The Ministry of PUPR’s infrastructure and facilities are distributed across 13 locations in the provinces of North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau, Jambi, Bangka Belitung, Bengkulu, and Lampung, with 52 staffs and infrastructure made up of 6 units of cabin toilet trucks, 8 units of water tank trucks, 4 units of fecal suction trucks, 12 units of portable toilets, and 8 units of public hydrants.

Meanwhile, there are 21 location points in Java. They are in DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java and East Java, with facilities and infrastructure consisting of 23 units of cabin toilet trucks, 14 units of water tank trucks, 10 units of fecal suction trucks, 12 units of portable toilets, 26 units of public hydrants, and 76 employees. Then, in Bali with one location point consisting of one unit of cabin toilet car, one unit of water tank truck, one unit of fecal suction trucks, and 4 staffs.

West Nusa Tenggara has one location with facilities and infrastructure that includes one cabin toilet truck, one water tank truck, one fecal suction truck, and four staff. Kalimantan has three locations in North and South Kalimantan, with one toilet bus, two cabin toilet trucks, three water tank trucks, three fecal suction trucks, one public hydrant, and 18 staffs.
Then, in Sulawesi, there are three locations, namely in the provinces of South Sulawesi and West Sulawesi, with three units of cabin toilet trucks, three units of water tank trucks, three units of fecal suction trucks, one unit of portable toilet, two units of public hydrants, and 21 staffs.

The last, on the island of Maluku, which is divided into two provinces, Maluku and North Maluku, facilities and infrastructure consist of one cabin toilet truck, two water tank trucks, one fecal suction truck, two portable toilets, and ten staffs. the latest one in west papua there are one unit of cabin toilet truck, one unit of water tank truck, one unit of fecal suction truck, and four staff.(ABIM)
