Minister Basuki is optimistic that the construction of the Jlantah Dam in Karanganyar will be completed in December 2023

Karanganyar, Central Java, ABIM (22/5/2023) – in His work visit to Central Java, Minister of PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono reviewed the construction of Jlantah Dam in Karanganyar Regency (5/19).
After reviewing and witnessing the construction progress, Minister Basuki showed his optimistic that the construction will be completed by the end of 2023 in December.

“Currently, the progress is 62% and no more hindrance, only related to geology and immediately handled. Therefore, the target of being finished by the end of 2023 can be true” Minister Basuki said.

The Jlantah Dam has a capacity of 10.97 million m3 which originates from the Jlantah and Puru Rivers. The construction of the dam is designed with a height of 70 m (from the river bed), a crest length of 404 m, a crest width of 12 m, a crest elevation of +690 m.

The dam is bulit by PT Waskita Karya (persero) and PT Adhi Karya KSO with the contract value of IDR 965 Million and it was under construction since 2019.
Maryadi Utama, Head of the Bengawan Solo River Basin, said that after completion, the Jlantah Dam will become a multifunctional dam that will provide economic benefits, one of which is as a source of irrigation. “The Jlantah Dam will irrigate 1,494 ha of rice fields in the Jatiyoso and Jumapolo Districts of Karanganyar Regency,” Maryadi said.
Besides for irrigation, this dam will produce 150 literper second of raw water. The presence of this dam benefits the potential for a Micro Hydro Power Plant (PLTMH) of 0.625 mega watts, flood reduction of 51.05% or 70.33 m3/second for Q50, as well as conservation and tourism in Karanganyar Regency.
The presence of the Jlantah Dam has increased the number of water reservoirs built by the PUPR Ministry to support food and water security in Central Java Province.
Apart from the Jlantah Dam, there are two other dams under construction and four completed dams in Central Java. In detail, the completed dams are the Gondang Dam in Karanganyar with a capacity of 9.15 million m3, the Logung Dam in Kudus which can hold 20.15 million m3 of water, the Pidekso Dam in Wonogiri with a capacity of 25 million m3, and the Randugunting Dam in Blora. with a capacity of 14.42 million m3. While the dams that are still under construction are the Bener Dam in Purworejo Regency and the Jragung Dam in Semarang Regency.
