Minister Basuki Targets Revitalization of the Balekambang Park Area in Solo to be Completed Faster in October 2023

Solo, Central Java, ABIM (22/5/2023) – The ministry of PUPR is about finishing the revitalization the Balekambang Park Area in Jalan Balekambang, Manahan, Surakarta, Central Java Province.

Minister of PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono stated, the progress of the construction is 24% and optimistic it will be completed in October 2023, faster than contract target which is finished in December 2023.

“For Partini pond designing, it has been finished, only waiting to fill it with water and installed with Ironwood at the edge. The concept and the aim of revitalization is to return the primary function back of Balekambang Park as kebon rojo or king’s park for park in the city,” Minister Basuki said.

Minister Basuki said, according to Presicdent Jokowi, in the past, the park has been the best park in Southeat Asia. For that reason, Minister Basuki instructs in the construction to prioritize the balance and eco-friendly. So, there will be many green open spaces where the society can socialize.

“The managing in field has informed that there were no trees cut down in this revitalization,” Minister Basuki said.

Balekambang Park was built during the reign of KGPAA Mangkunegoro VII on October 26, 1921. The construction of the park was a form of KGPAA Mangkunegoro VII’s affection for his two daughters, GRAy Partini and GRAy Partinah.

The revitalization was carried out by contractor PT PP-Utama KSO worth IDR 159.4 billion at the expense of the 2022-2023 Fiscal State Budget. The scope of the revitalization work includes the construction of an open stage for performances, a theater, arrival hall, aviary & deer park, flower garden, skywalk, and ponds and partini ponds.

Also present accompanying Minister Basuki, Acting Director General (Dirjen) of Water Resources Jarot Widyoko, Head of the Central Java Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW) Kuswara, Head of Central Java BBPJN Rien Marlia, Head of the Bengawan Solo River Basin Center (BBWS) Maryadi Utama, and Head of the Pemali River Basin Center (BBWS) Juana Harya Muldianto.(ABIM)
