Debriefing Batch 219 and 220 LPDP Scholarships, Minister Basuki: Improve Education to Deal with Development Challenges

Jakarta, ABIM (26/11/2023) – Red and White Reflections: “Aku Pergi Untuk Kembali” was the topic of a briefing delivered by Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono at the Departure Preparation (PK) event for Class 219 and 220 Educational Fund Management Institution (LPDP) Scholarships conducted online on (11/24). Prior to commencing their academic pursuits, LPDP scholarship recipients engage in PK, a training activity.

What is the critical nature of schools and national human resource development (HR)?” Enhancing national competitiveness and global standing is exclusively possible through the cultivation of exceptional human capital; relying solely on our natural resources is insufficient. “Each of you is a member of the future generation of Indonesia,” stated Minister Basuki.

In addition, human resource development is necessary to address the challenges of urbanization and equality in national development, according to Minister Basuki. Minister Basuki stated, citing data from the Inter-Census Population Survey, that 57% of Indonesia’s population resided in urban areas in 2020 alone, and that by 2045, that number is expected to surpass 70%.

Minister Basuki added that the disparity between regions remains an obstacle to Indonesia’s progress. “In the future, we must be able to equalize development while also focusing development in each archipelago, which must be developed in accordance with local wisdom and wealth.” “For this we need knowledge and technology that is appropriate for each region,” he said.

According to Minister Basuki, the final challenges in national development are environmental degradation, natural disasters and climate change, which also require science and technology that must be mastered by Indonesian human resources to overcome them. “School changes the way of life, both the personal way of life and the way of life of the nation nationally,” he said.

Minister Basuki concluded by advising that knowledge should never be stagnant, as both present and future technologies will evolve at an accelerated rate. Therefore, people begin to become unintelligent as soon as they stop learning. “I aspire for this LPDP scholarship to groom exceptionally intelligent people.” “Because scientific intelligence that loses guidance will be governed by passions that can harm or harm many people or the nation,” he concluded. “Truth is established on guidance and faith.”(ABIM)
