Minister Basuki Reviews Progress in Rehabilitating Educational Infrastructure in DIY Province, Emphasising Support for HR Quality Improvement

Yogyakarta, ABIM (26/10/2023) – Director General of Human Settlements Diana Kusumastuti and Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono saw the Rehabilitation educational facilities in Sleman Regency, D.I. Province. DIY, Yogyakarta (10/24). The Reviews was carried out at the New Building of Nahdlatul Ulama University (UNU) Yogyakarta, and the Gadjah Mada University (UGM) Innovation and Creativity Center (GIK) Building Area.

Minister Basuki stated that the PUPR Ministry’s rehabilitation of educational facilities was in accordance with the instructions of President Joko Widodo, which were to speed up the building and rehabilitation of madrasas, schools, and ongoing Construction in Progress (KDP) for State Universities (PTN)/PTKIN in Indonesia.

Since October 2021, the Directorate General of Human Settlements of the Ministry of PUPR, operating through the Center for Regional Settlement Infrastructure (Balai Prasarana Permukiman Wilayah – PPW) DIY, has been responsible for the construction of the New UNU Yogyakarta Building. The project is scheduled to be finalized in June 2023. The total construction area of this structure is 16,769.19 square meters. The capacity to accommodate 3,774 students and 151 lecturers.

“We congratulate that UNU has been able to utilize this infrastructure and can use it for focused and better learning, so that it can create superior human resources (HR) that are ready to compete,” said Minister Basuki.

In the meanwhile, Minister Basuki advised implementers to increase natural elements such as wood, rocks, and green vegetation during his visit to the GIK UGM region. “Pay attention to the quality of the work, neatness alone is not enough, don’t forget the aesthetic elements in it,” said Minister Basuki.

The GIK UGM Building area, according to the head of BPPW DIY Jonny Zainuri Echsan, is divided into eight zones that serve dual purposes: human resources (HR) development and student facilities for different faculties.

“Construction on the UGM GIK area will commence in June 2022.” At the moment, physical development has progressed by 72%. PT Waskita-Amarta KSO has been awarded the advanced multiyear contract (myc) worth IDR 607.3 billion as the implementing contractor.” Jonny explained.

Directors of Strategic Infrastructure of the Directorate General (Ditjen) CK, Essy Asiah, Usman Hermanto, Head of the Sub-directorate of Strategic Infrastructure Technical Planning, and Jonny Zainuri Echsan, Head of the D. I. Yogyakarta Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW), were also in attendance at this event.(ABIM)
