Probolinggo, East Java (7/2/2023) – PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono on Monday (6/2/2023) did the Groundbreaking in Pendil Village, Suko District, Probolinggo Regency, East Java Province. It indicated that the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has started the construction of toll road Probolinggo-Banyuwangi phase I with the length of 49,68 km from Probolinggo to Besuki.
Minister Basuki said, The Probolinggo-Banyuwangi Toll Road with a total length of 175.40 km is the final section of the Trans Java Toll Road which was previously connected from Banten Province, West Java to East Probolinggo, East Java Province. These toll roads are expected to make it easier to transport people, goods, and services from Banten to Banyuwangi and will boost the local economy.
“This is the final section of Trans Java Toll Road. It spans from west to east across Java. The Toll Road Concession Agreement (PPJT) of Probolinggo-Banyuwangi has been implemented since 2017. Today we are starting again for those who are technically ready with an investment value of IDR 10.7 trillion, it is the Probolinggo-Besuki section,” said Minister Basuki.

Minister Basuki instructed contractors and supervising consultants to prioritize quality, aesthetics, and environmental sustainability. “Everything depends on how the planning goes in the beginning. I therefore ask the consultants to refrain from interfering with the quality of the work. The consultants in charge of managing the work must do their jobs as effectively as they can “Minister Basuki stated.

As part of the construction project, Minister Basuki also gives instructions to the implementing contractors to maximize the domestic component level (TKDN) in accordance with the President’s instructions. “Use domestic products for our TKDN, Imports are not allowed, and domestic infrastructure products must be used, These things, like lead rubber bearings, will advance if you keep buying them “He said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) of the PUPR Ministry Danang Parikesit said the construction of this toll road is targeted to be completed in 2024. “The completion of the Probolinggo-Banyuwangi Toll Road section is important because apart from the final part of Trans Java it also helps to develop tourism activities, both in East Java and Bali,” said Danang.

The President Director of PT Jasamarga Probolinggo Banyuwangi (JPB) Adi Prasetyo reported that the construction of the Probolinggo-Banyuwangi Toll Road is divided into two stages of development, Phase I connecting Probolinggo to Besuki for 49.68 km, and Phase II connecting Besuki to Banyuwangi for 125.72 km.

The construction of Phase I is divided into three construction work packages: Package 1 Gending-Kraksaan (12.88 km) with 92.02 percent land acquisition progress, Package 2 Kraksaan-Paiton (11.20 km) with 89.67 percent land acquisition progress, and Package 3 Paiton-Besuki (25.60 km) with 28.48 percent land acquisition progress.

“With the progress of the property, we are now ready to begin building on Packages 1 and 2 simultaneously in early February which was followed by the construction of Package 3 in mid-February 2023,” Adi added.

As for information, the work of Package 1 of the Gending-Kraksaan section is carried out by contractors PT Adhi Karya (Persero) Tbk-PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero)-PT Marga Construction Nusantara (KSO), while supervision is carried out by Supervision Consultants from PT Virama Karya (Persero).
Next, Package 2 of the Kraksaan-Paiton segment was carried out by contractor PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur-PT Acset Indonusa Tbk-PT Nindya Karya KSO. For supervision, carried out by Supervision Consultants from PT Multi PHI Beta.
Then, Package 3 of the Paiton-Besuki segment is carried out by the contractor PT. Housing Development (Persero) Tbk.-PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk.-PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk., (KSO), while supervision is divided into 2 Packages, Package 3A is carried out by Supervision Consultant from PT Eskapindo Matra and Package 3B is still in the procurement preparation stage.
Hedy Rahadian, Director General of Highways of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), Danang Parikesit, BPJT Secretary Triono Junoasmono, Expert Staff to the Minister of PUPR for Technology, Industry, and Environment Endra S.
