The Ministry of Home Affairs holds a meeting to coordinate efforts with the Ministries of Public Works and Housing to speed up infrastructure construction in the New Autonomous Region of Papua in Papua

Jakarta, ABIM (28/4/2023) – The Directorate General (Ditjen) for Regional Development Development (Bangda), the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) has held a Coordination Meeting regarding the Acceleration of Infrastructure and Facilities Development in the four regions of the New Autonomous Region (DOB) Papua which is chaired directly by the Director General (Dirjen) Bangda Mr. Restuardy David, (4/17).

Restuardy stated that before the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) sent a letter to the Minister of Finance (Minister of Finance), the parties must reach an agreement so that infrastructure development is more precisely related to the source of financing.

“Then, the Ministry of Home Affairs will verify the overall APBD portion as well as re-check supporting facilities and infrastructure such as data communication networks or Jarkomdat and electricity,” Restuardy said.
The Director for the Preservation of Roads and Bridges for Region II said that the total temporary financing needed is IDR 9.9 trillion using a 2-year APBN budget financing scheme where in 2023 it is IDR 3.5 trillion, in 2024 it is IDR 3 trillion and the APBD is IDR 3.3 trillion.

The plan for these needs also still needs to be refined by the Ministry of PUPR for budgets sourced from the APBN and the Ministry of Home Affairs for budgets sourced from the APBD.

“As a follow-up in the context of tracking and accelerating infrastructure development in Papua’s four new autonomous regions, data on APBD support in infrastructure development, as well as sharpening priorities and detailed designs by the Ministry of PUPR’s organizational unit, is required.” As a result, a coordination meeting will be conducted again, this time chaired by the deputy minister of home affairs, to discuss plans for infrastructure development in four new autonomous regions in Papua,” Restuardy said.

This coordination meeting was attended by the Director of SUPD II, the Director of Road and Bridge Preservation for Region II as the Task Force for the Acceleration of Development of Infrastructure and Facilities for the New Autonomous Region of Papua, the Ministry of PUPR, the Head of Sub Directorate of Public Works, Directorate of SUPD II, Head of Sub Directorate of Region IV, Directorate of PEIPD and officials/staff of the Directorate General.
