Commitment to Support Education Infrastructure, Ministry of PUPR Receives the 2023 Merdeka Belajar Award from the Ministry of Education and Culture

Yogyakarta, ABIM (30/5/2023) – The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) received an award from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) “Merdeka Belajar” Award 2023 for the Ministry Partner Category. The award was given by the Secretary General (Secretary General) of the Ministry of Education and Culture Suharti and received by the Secretary General of the Ministry of PUPR Mohammad Zainal Fatah at the peak event of the “Bulan Merdeka Belajar” in commemoration of the 2023 National Education Day in the Prambanan Temple Area, D.I Yogyakarta, Monday (5/29).

The award was given as a form of appreciation for the Ministry of PUPR’s commitment to supporting educational infrastructure as a means of developing Human Resources (HR). Since 2019, the Ministry of PUPR through the Directorate of Strategic Infrastructure, the Directorate General (Ditjen) Cipta Karya has been entrusted with the rehabilitation and renovation of schools, madrasas and tertiary institutions to support teaching and learning activities.

Secretary General of the Ministry of PUPR Mohammad Zainal Fatah said that this achievement was the result of the hard work of the Ministry of PUPR, especially in building educational infrastructure.

“Of course this achievement makes us proud in carrying out our continuous duties. This is also the result of our hard work with effort and enthusiasm. Congratulations on the award, keep the spirit up to work,” Secretary General Zainal Fatah said.
In the 2022 Fiscal Year, the Ministry of PUPR has completed the construction and rehabilitation of schools in 458 schools (elementary, junior high and high school) and 83 madrasah (Ibtidaiyah, Tsanawiyah and Aliyah). Development of educational infrastructure at the elementary, junior high and high school levels will continue in FY 2023 with a target of 1,174 schools, bringing a total of 4,636 schools during 2019-2024.

In addition to the rehabilitation and renovation of schools at the elementary, junior high and high school levels, the PUPR Ministry has also provided support for educational facilities at the state tertiary level, including the construction of the continuation of Construction in Progress (KDP). In FY 2022, 25 units of educational facilities have been completed for universities and polytechnics, and will be continued in FY 2023 with 9 units.

Also accompanying the Secretary General of the PUPR Ministry Mohammad Zainal Fatah, Director of Strategic Infrastructure at the Directorate General of Cipta Karya Essy Asiah, Head of Central Java-DIY National Road Implementation Center (BBPJN) Rien Marlia, and Head of BPPW D.I Yogyakarta Jonny Zainuri Echsan.(ABIM)
