Jakarta, ABIM (17/7/2023) – Minister Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono welcomed the World Bank Regional Director for Sustainable Development East Asia Pacific, Benoît Bosquet and other World Bank delegations at the PUPR Ministry Headquarters, Tuesday (13/6). The visit aims to continue the collaboration between the Ministry of PUPR and the World Bank to achieve sustainable development.
Minister Basuki appreciated the World Bank, especially Benoît Bosquet for their contribution and cooperation in assisting the PUPR Ministry to achieve the 2020-2024 RPJMN target.
“The World Bank provides the majority of funding for ongoing loan projects at the PUPR Ministry.” “With a total support of 24.71%, or approximately USD 1.68 billion, of the Ministry of PUPR’s total loan of USD 6.8 billion,” Minister Basuki explained.
The World Bank has supported a total of ten PUPR Ministry projects from the loan amount. According to Minister of Finance Regulation 224/2011 concerning Procedures for Monitoring and Evaluation of Loans/Grants, 1 project is classified as At-Risk (NUDP), 8 projects are classified as Behind-Schedule (DOISP II, SIMURP, NSUP, NUWSP, ISWMP, CSRRP, ITDP and ITMP), and 1 new project (NUFReP) will be implemented in April 2023.
The Ministry of Public Works and Housing’s achievements in infrastructure development for the 2020-2022 period include the rehabilitation and modernization of 826,531 hectares of irrigation systems, increased operational and safety procedures for more than 163 dams, provision of drinking water at a rate of 2,988 liters per second, self-help construction and repair of 546,561 houses, and assisting the distribution of affordable housing to 25,176 families.
Finally, Minister Basuki asked World Bank delegates to attend the 2024 World Water Forum (WWF) in Bali, themed “Water for Shared Prosperity.”
“I appreciate today’s productive meeting. It is intended that the Ministry of PUPR and the World Bank’s collaboration will continue to strengthen and generate advantages through an inclusive development approach. In addition, we invite the World Bank to participate in WWF 2024 initiatives in Bali. “We believe that by drawing on the World Bank’s experience, we can engage in a lively dialogue and share ideas and the best solutions to challenges in the water resources sector,” Minister Basuki added.
