Kapuas Hulu, West Kalimantan, ABIM (7/9/2023) – In his working visit to West Kalimantan, The Minister of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono with commission V of The House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) Lasarus and Regent of Kapuas Hulu Fransiscus Diaan reviewed the construction of the West Kalimantan Border Parallel Road on Monday (9/3).
Minister Basuki targets to have the 608-kilometer parallel West Kalimantan Border to East Kalimantan Border Road completed by the end of 2024. The Nanga Era-East Kalimantan (Kaltim) border is 149 kilometers long, with 25 kilometers paved and another 25 kilometers in the process of being paved until May 2024. The remaining will be operational by the end of 2024 or early 2025.
“Infrastructure development in President Jokowi’s government is still continuing the program for the first period (2014-2019), which is building from the outskirts.” The border road between Nanga Era and East Kalimantan is now being paved for 25 kilometers and is expected to be completed by May 2024. Hopefully, the infrastructure will be upgraded. “It can be built to help people in border and inland areas,” Minister Basuki explained.
According to Handiyana, the head of the West Kalimantan National Road Implementation Agency (BPJN), Directorate General of Highways, Ministry of PUPR, a total of 608 km of West Kalimantan Parallel Border Roads will have been paved by the end of 2022. “Currently, all Border Roads in West Kalimantan are transparent/open, but there are several sections that are not yet fully functional because bridges and road grade improvements are still needed,” he explained.
Handiyana said, in 2023, 9 works to improve and build West Kalimantan Border Roads will be carried out, including: Road and Bridge Improvements for the Siding/Selebar – Sekayan/Entikong – Rasau Boundary Section (47.10 km) in 2022-2024 with a value of IDR 209 billion; Routine maintenance of roads and bridges for the Simpang Take – Simpang Sontas section (95.54 km) worth IDR 9.6 billion; and Construction of the Kapuas Hulu/Sintang – Nanga Badau MYC 2020 – 2023 Boundary Road worth IDR 199 billion (33.60 km).
Currently, construction of the Entikong- Rasau – Badau MYC 2020 – 2023 Bridge section worth IDR 139 billion (859 meters), Improvement of the Rasau – Sepulau – Kapuas Hulu/Sintang MYC 2022 – 2024 Road section worth IDR 181 billion (68 km), Routine Maintenance Roads and Bridges for the Simpang Balai Karangan – Rasau – Simpang Nanga Kantuk – Nanga Badau Section (89 km) worth IDR 7.39 billion, Construction of the Nanga Era Road – Boundary of East Kalimantan MYC 2022 – 2024 worth IDR 148 billion (25 km), and Routine Maintenance of Roads and Nanga Era Section Bridge – Bts. East Kalimantan (27 km) worth IDR 2.9 billion, as well as Routine Maintenance of the Temajuk – Tanjung and Aruk – Take Intersection (65 km) worth IDR. 3.9 billion.
