Jakarta, ABIM (11/10/2023) – The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has completed the construction of three suspension bridges to improve connectivity between villages in Sintang Regency, West Kalimantan Province. The three bridges are the Sebadak Village Suspension Bridge in Ketungau Hulu District, the Sumber Sari Village Suspension Bridge in Central Ketungau District, and the Ratu Damai Village Suspension Bridge in Ketungau Hilir District.
Suspension bridges, as a form of community infrastructure, were praised by PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono for making it easier to move around and reducing the amount of time needed to travel between villages that were separated by slopes, hills, ravines, or rivers.
“The presence of the suspension bridge will make it easier and shorter for rural residents to access schools, markets, workplaces, take care of administration at sub-district or sub-district offices and access to friendship between residents,” Minister Basuki stated.
Chairman of Commission V DPR RI Lasarus, Director of Road and Bridge Preservation Region 1 Directorate General of Highways Ministry of PUPR Nyoman Suaryana, Head of the West Kalimantan National Road Implementation Agency (BPJN) Handiyana, and Deputy Regent of Sintang Melkianus signed an inscription on Friday (10/6) to commemorate the inauguration of the three bridges in Sebadak Village, Ketungau Hulu, Sintang Regency.
The 84-meter-long Sebadak Village Suspension Bridge was constructed by service provider PT Puga Mandiri Group with a budget of IDR 3.8 billion using the 2021 APBN. The 120-meter-long Sumber Sari Village Suspension Bridge was then constructed by service provider CV Asri Karya with a budget of IDR 8.6 billion from the APBN Fiscal Year 2022-2023. The 84-meter-long Ratu Damai Village Suspension Bridge was constructed by PT Varia Indah Lestari with a budget of IDR 2.7 billion from the 2018 APBN fiscal year.
Deputy Regent of Sintang Melkianus also thanked the Ministry of PUPR and the DPR RI for collaboration in constructing a suspension bridge in Sintang Regency as a form of community infrastructure.(ABIM)
