Jakarta, Indonesia, ABIM (16/5/2026) – Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for Community and Corporate Affairs, H.E. Nararya Soeprapto, today received a courtesy call from H.E. Esmeralda Mendonça, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Angola, at the ASEAN Headquarters/ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta.

The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on strengthening engagement and cooperation between ASEAN and Angola. Discussions focused on exploring areas of mutual interest and enhancing dialogue to promote closer relations between Southeast Asia and Africa.

During the courtesy call, Deputy Secretary-General Nararya Soeprapto highlighted ASEAN’s commitment to fostering constructive partnerships with countries and regions around the world. He also shared updates on ASEAN’s community-building efforts and the region’s ongoing initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable development, economic integration, and people-centered cooperation.

Secretary of State Esmeralda Mendonça reaffirmed Angola’s interest in deepening engagement with ASEAN and expressed appreciation for the organization’s role in advancing regional peace, stability, and economic growth. She also underscored the importance of strengthening interregional collaboration to address shared global challenges and unlock new opportunities for trade, investment, and cultural exchanges.

Both officials acknowledged the growing importance of ASEAN-Africa relations and emphasized the value of continued dialogue and cooperation. They explored potential avenues for collaboration in areas such as economic development, capacity building, education, and people-to-people connectivity.

The meeting concluded with both sides expressing their commitment to maintaining close communication and identifying practical initiatives that could further enhance relations between ASEAN and Angola in the years ahead.
