North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan, Indonesia, ABIM (6/2/2023) – Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono during his weekend (4-5/2/2023) monitored the progress of fundamental infrastructure construction supporting the Capital City of Nusantara (IKN), including government buildings in the central core of the government area (KIPP) in East Kalimantan. To date, the contractors, the construction management consultant and the supervisions have been working on 31 constructions, they are land development, housing for workers, logistics roads, toll roads, retention basin and drainage, raw water intakes, coordinating ministry offices, the main pillar, office area and the state palace.
During his visit, Minister Basuki stated that the IKN infrastructure was operating effectively in accordance with three main principles: quality assurance, aesthetic, and environmental sustainability. He also noted that 14% of the infrastructure’s physical progress had been completed to date. “The Smart Forest City vision must be our guide and orientation in our work. Be careful, the tree should be chopped down as minimum as possible. Instead, we use existing trees and cliffs for a good landscape view of the area,” said Minister Basuki.
While the plan is being implemented, there is a strict limitation on the number of existing trees that can be cut down in the way of roads and construction sites, and maintaining the terrain’s existing topography (height, contour, and position) under the strict supervision of construction management and work supervision.
Additionally, Minister Basuki warned against letting Over Dimension and Overload (ODOL) vehicles pass through the KIPP IKN area.
“I am firm concerning ODOL, the rules are in place. Trucks transporting goods should not be overloaded, and we must set a positive example for others to follow “Minister Basuki added.
A further review of government buildings at KIPP IKN Nusantara includes the construction of Phase I of the Main Pillar covering Zone 1 (riparian, visitor center), Zone 2 (ceremonial lawn, plaza, retail building, toilet), Zone 3 (central promenade, wetland, forest trail) , Zone 4 (shared street), Zone 5 (shared street).
In a review of Workers’ housing, Minister Basuki asked that each flat unit be occupied by a maximum of 8 workers, so that the rooms are more spacious. Minister Basuki also instructed that a minimum of 2 units of fans (blowers) be installed in each aisle of the flats to improve air circulation and reduce hot air. In total, 22 towers were built with a capacity of 14,000 workers.
Furthermore, Minister Basuki reviewed the progress of the construction of the Sepaku River Intake with a capacity of 3000 liters per second which will be equipped with a transmission pipeline network to support the supply of raw water in IKN.
