Minister Basuki Welcomes Sultan of Brunei Darussalam at the 42nd ASEAN Summit

Labuan Bajo,  East Nusa Tenggara, ABIM (12/5/2023) – On the second day of the 42nd ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Wednesday (5/10), PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono welcomed Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah at Komodo Airport, Labuan Bajo and will accompany him home on the next day, Thursday (5/11).

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah was the ASEAN leader who arrives the last after the others ASEAN countries leader to participate on the 42nd ASEAN Summit event in Labuan Bajo.

On this ASEAN Summit, Minister Basuki is the person in charge of the Implementation of the Summit and Logistics based on Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 5 year 2023 regarding the National Committee for Indonesia’s Chair at ASEAN in 2023.

Technical excellence would be maintained throughout the 42nd ASEAN Summit, according to Minister Basuki. such as the ASEAN Summit’s security and safety, as well as the technical arrival and departure of the leaders and delegations of ASEAN member countries. Including the possibility of weather conditions that could lead to disruptions in activities.

“Regarding the weather, based on the BMKG report, there is a risk of rain in the afternoon to evening. So that on May 10-11 2023 a weather modification operation was carried out in collaboration between BMKG, BRIN, Ministry of Transportation and the TNI,” Minister Basuki explained.

In addition to hoping that the ASEAN Summit will be a success from beginning to end, Minister Basuki also hopes that cooperation among ASEAN nations will have a concrete impact, in line with the theme of Indonesia’s ASEAN chairmanship, “ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth.”

“The holding of the ASEAN Summit is not just ceremonial, but we believe it will produce more concrete things and ASEAN will truly become the epicenter of growth,” Minister Basuki said. (ABIM)
