Takalar, South Sulawesi, ABIM (29/7/2023) – The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Directorate General of Water Resources targets the completion of the construction of the Pamukkulu Dam in Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi by the end of December 2023. This Concrete Face Rockfill Dam (CFRD) has an effective capacity of 77 million m3 and a 460 ha inundation area.
According to PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, the Pamukkulu Dam was constructed to increase the water supply for South Sulawesi Province’s agricultural land as one of the national foodshed.
“In South Sulawesi there are stretches of rice fields over the remaining 3,000 hectares and are hard to find in other areas. We will increase productivity with the availability of water from the dam,” said Minister Basuki during his visit to Takalar, South Sulawesi, Thursday (7/27).
The Pamukkulu Dam is projected to be able to irrigate an area of 6,188 hectares and raise the Agricultural Index (IP) from the starting point 183% to 250%, according to the head of the BBWS Pompengan Jeneberang Djaya Sukarno. Then there are the advantages of raw water with a 160 l/s capacity, the possibility for 4.3 MW of hydroelectric generation, and flood control in Takalar Regency.
“Currently, 68% of the progress has been made. The contract is valid until December 2024, but we’re attempting to finish it sooner by working in three shifts. Thus, it is expected that it will be finished in December 2023, Djaya said.
A total of two work packages and IDR 1.6 trillion were used to build the Pamukkulu Dam. With a budget of IDR 935.49 billion, package 1 work was completed by PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) – PT Daya Mulia Turangga (KSO) as right and left supports, plinth anchorage drilling, and quarry area.
Whereas for package 2, work in the form of inlet tunnels, outlets, invert tunnels, crown tunnels, spillways, plinths, intakes, and installation of SRs is carried out by PT Nindya Karya with a budget of Rp. 891.93 billion. For the supervision consultant it is carried out by Indra Karya – Virama Karya – Construction Work.
After reviewing the construction of the Pamukkulu Dam, Minister Basuki instructed the executors to pay great attention to the work’s implementation. “The job has been satisfactory. Please uphold and always supervise. If there is a problem, report it immediately so that it can be resolved. “It should be finished by December 2023,” Minister Basuki instructed.
