FY 2024 Budget Ceiling IDR 146.98 Trillion, Ministry of PUPR Focuses on Completing Priority Infrastructure Development

Jakarta, Indonesia, ABIM (31/8/2023) – On fiscal year (FY) 2024, The Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) will focus on accelerating the completion of infrastructure development and optimizing existing infrastructure.

According to PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, all construction work for the FY 2024 program would be finished in 2024 as per President Joko Widodo’s instructions, allowing the citizens to benefit from this infrastructure immediately.

“The main priority of the 2024 FY program is the completion of the National Strategic Program and priority activities through multi-year contracts, the implementation of the OPOR (Operation, Maintenance, Optimization and Rehabilitation) program, as well as the implementation of Presidential directives including the construction of markets, regional roads, drinking water and schools, ” Minister Basuki said in a Working Meeting (Raker) with Commission V DPR RI in Jakarta, Wednesday (8/30).

The fiscal year 2024 budget ceiling for the PUPR Ministry is IDR 146.98 trillion. Construction of 23 dam units, lake revitalization, 4,000 hectares of irrigation, rehabilitation and improvement of 38,000 hectares of irrigation, 57.5 km of flood control and coastal protection, raw water infrastructure with a capacity of 2.5 m3/second, and 7 reservoir units are among the top priorities in the water resources sector, which totals IDR 47.64 trillion.

“Priority activities in the road and bridge sector amounting to Rp. 55.40 include improving freeway connectivity for 546.13 km, routine preservation of 47,603 km of roads, increasing capacity and preserving structural improvements for 2,117.75 km of roads, preserving and replacing 7.12 km of bridges, construction of 318.41 km of roads, construction and duplication of 3.89 km of bridges, increased accessibility of flyovers/underpasses/tunnels of 918.75 meters, as well as support for the Presidential Instruction on Regional Roads of 26.25 km,” Minister Basuki explained.

In the residential sector, IDR 32.70 trillion will be used to build and improve SPAM with a 2,985 liters/second capacity, expand SPAM by 20,638 SR, install Pamsimas in 1,183 villages, domestic waste water management systems with services for 11,370 families, waste management systems with services for 231,012 families, install Sanimas in 1,546 locations, install TPS3R in 173 locations, install sanitation in 1,279 religious educational institutions, KSPN arrangement and other strategic activities covering an area of 352 hectares, PISEW in 738 sub-districts.

Then, development of building management covering an area of 27,720 m2, development of building and environmental management in 5 areas, construction of buildings and arrangement of IKN areas of total 13 units, rehabilitation and renovation of school/madrasah infrastructure for 328 units, construction and rehabilitation of PTN/PTKIN for 17 units, rehabilitation and renovation of 25 markets, construction of 25 sports infrastructure units, and renovation of 21 stadiums.

Furthermore, in the housing sector, IDR 9.25 trillion includes the construction of flats (continued construction of ASN and Defense and Security flats in IKN 2,585 units, MYC 2023-2024 flats 2,316 units, and construction of new flats directive 578 units), construction of special houses (flats affected by disasters 553 units, continued construction of permanent housing in Central Sulawesi, and construction of 36 units of landed houses for ministerial positions in IKN), construction of 26,686 PSU units for housing for MBR and support for Handling Extreme Poverty (PKE) through the BSPS Work Intensive Scheme program of 45,872 units.

Meanwhile, management support at the Secretariat General, Inspectorate General, Directorate General of Construction Development, Directorate General of Public Works & Housing Infrastructure Financing, BPSDM, and BPIW totaling IDR 1.99 trillion consisting of planning, construction guidance, supervision, infrastructure financing, strengthening human resources, and management services.

The Labor Intensive Program, which has a budget of IDR 6.67 trillion and aims to employ 264 000 workers while also providing assistance to those in extreme poverty, is still in operation. In the meantime, IKN infrastructure would receive IDR 35.37 trillion in support by 2024, Minister Basuki said.
