Badung, Bali, ABIM (19/5/2024) – As part of the ongoing 10th World Water Forum events that commenced on Saturday, May 18, 2024, heads of state and delegates will attend a welcoming dinner at the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park (GWK) on Sunday, May 19, 2024.
The dinner will take place from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM WITA, with approximately 2,300 attendees, including 500 guest speakers or Very Very Important Persons (VVIPs) and 1,800 other invitees.
Several heads of state have arrived in Bali, including Tajikistan’s Prime Minister Qohir Rasulzoda, Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, and Fiji’s President Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere. Papua New Guinea’s Deputy Prime Minister John Rosso is also present, along with Former Hungarian President Janos Ader, who is attending as a special invitee. Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch has confirmed his attendance but has not yet arrived in Bali.
United Nations General Assembly President Dennis Francis and World Water Council President Loïc Fauchon have also arrived and will be attending the dinner.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo will personally welcome the guests at 7:30 PM WITA.
Additionally, 17 ministers or ministerial-level officials from countries such as Australia, Brunei Darussalam, China, Congo, Egypt, France, Kenya, Palestine, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Singapore, Tanzania, Timor-Leste, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, and Uzbekistan are invited to the dinner.
Delegates from Brazil, Gambia, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Mozambique, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Palau, Qatar, the Solomon Islands, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Slovakia, Thailand, Turkey, and Vanuatu will also be in attendance. Additionally, representatives from international organizations, including the EU, World Bank, IPU (represented by the DPR), and the UN Secretary General (UNESCAP), will be present.
As the host, Indonesia will offer traditional Indonesian dishes. The event will also feature welcoming performances aligned with the World Water Forum’s theme.
