Bali, ABIM (21/5/2024) – The 10th World Water Forum’s third day kicks off with a high-profile gathering of world leaders at the Bali International Convention Center in Nusa Dua on Monday, May 20, 2024.
President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, will first greet the heads of state/heads of government arriving at the venue from around 08.30 local time before commencing the Opening Ceremony at Mangupura Hall of the Bali International Convention Center (BICC) at 08.55 local time.
As scheduled, the next activity on the agenda for President Jokowi is chairing the High-Level Meeting on global water and sanitation issues at BICC’s Nusantara Hall at 09.45 local time.
The world leaders attending the High-Level Meeting (HLM) include the Prime Minister of Tajikistan Qohir Rasulzoda, President of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe, President of Fiji Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia Dato Sri Haji Fadillah Bin Haji Yusof, and Deputy Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea John Rosso.
In attendance at the meeting will be Loïc Fauchon, President of the World Water Council (WWC), Dennis Francis, President of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, former Hungarian President Janos Ader, as well as French special envoy Barbara Pompili and Dutch special envoy Meike van Ginneken.
At approximately 13:00 local time on the same day, the opening fair and expo of the 10th World Water Forum will commence. Following this, at 13:50 local time, the Parliamentary Meeting will convene at Pecatu 3 and 5 within the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC). This gathering will be graced by Puan Maharani, serving as Chair of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
Following these meetings, heads of state, delegates, and participants of the World Water Forum are scheduled to tour the mangrove area of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Forest Park (Tahura) at 15:30 local time. The day’s events will culminate with the Cultural Parade at the Bali Collection at 16:30 local time, marking the conclusion of the third day of the series.
Earlier, on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park (GWK) in Bali, leaders and delegates of the 10th World Water Forum enjoyed a warm welcome dinner. The ambiance exuded a rich display of Indonesian culture, evident in the attire of the heads of state, the invitations, musical and dance performances, as well as the dinner menu.(ABIM)
